Tania León is a trailblazer as a composer, conductor, and educator. Born in Havana, Cuba, León has achieved acclaim over an illustrious career. In 2021, she was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in recognition of her orchestral work Stride and, in 2022, was inducted into the prestigious ranks of Kennedy Center honorees. Through her years as a faculty member at the CUNY Graduate Center and at Brooklyn College, she has inspired generations of students, recently concluding her tenure as a distinguished professor emerita. León joins us in an evening of conversation about her extraordinary musical journey, along with performances of a number of her dazzling works.

Presented with the Ph.D.–D.M.A. Program in Music. Made possible by funds from the Elebash Global Voices Fund.
