Back by popular demand, the brilliant young Bergamot Quartet will perform new music inspired by folk traditions, by Ledah Finck (Irish trad.), Dan Trueman (Norwegian trad.), and Anna Roberts Gevalt (Appalachian trad.). The quartet will be joined by RRMF founders Newman & Oltman to present Arnold Black’s delightful suite “Laments & Dances,” which incorporates tunes by the Irish 17th-century blind itinerant harper and composer Turlough O’Carolan, featuring a mix of poignant Irish laments and joyous jigs and reels. Folk music connects us to our past; to traditions, kindred, and lands that in our lives form a foundation stronger than stone.

Celebrating the centenary of the birth of composer Arnold Black (1923-2000)
